What’s Happening At Rowenas

Rowena's Wins Retailer of the Year 2008

Rowena's Supports the Troops

A soldier in Iraq enjoys a lemon pound cake, sliced by bayonet.

Attached is a recent photo of me enjoying my lemon pound cake on the hood of my humvee. Used my bayonet to cut into it. I've received Rowena's products for years while I have been overseas.

Once upon a time, I even worked there in Rowena's. I was one of the Christmas school break holiday help the first year or so it was opened. The name was a little different then, but the great product remains the same!

A Visit from Paula Deen!
February 13th was a very special day in the life of Rowena’s.  Paula Deen, renowned chef, cookbook author, and the Food Network’s host extraordinaire, visited us with her husband, Michael. After tasting all of our delectable treats in our gift shop, they enjoyed a Full Afternoon Tea in Rowena’s Tea Room.  All of us at Rowena’s were thrilled to hear so many accolades coming from someone that certainly knows and appreciates good food!

News

Our founder, Rowena Fullinwider, joined more than 35 of the D. C. areas top female chefs to prepare their best known dishes at the The Ovarian Cancer Gala, held at the Ritz Carlton in Washington DC, on Wednesday, February 28th. In one night, they raised in excess of $350,000!

Rowena prepared hors d’oeuvre. Everyone loved her meatballs with the Carrot Jam. The squares of Almond Pound Cake with Lemon Curd Sauce were a huge success as well.

Rowena told them, "Life is short, so eat dessert first!"

Proceeds support the Alliance 's work to increase funding for ovarian cancer research and raise awareness about the disease's symptoms and risk factors.  Call 202-331-1332 or go on line www.ovariancancer.org to receive information.

Rowena’s list of awards is a lengthy one and becoming longer with each passing year. Most recently, she received The Women of Distinction Award given by the YWCA.

Rowena was the key note speaker for the Girl Scout’s Annual presentation and for the South East NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) Gala.

Rowena will also be the speaker for the Greater Richmond Division of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
